Why was my card declined?

Card declines almost always come from your card issuer, not from nomo. The most common reasons are: international transactions blocked, daily card limit hit, the bank's fraud system flagging trading-related merchants, or insufficient funds. Each has a fix below — and if cards keep failing, local payment methods or crypto are usually faster anyway.

The seven most common reasons

1. 3DS authentication failed

The payment may fail if the verification step was not completed successfully. Make sure you approve the transaction in your banking app or enter the OTP code correctly before the session expires.

2. Insufficient funds

Your available balance may be lower than expected due to pending transactions, holds, or account limits. Please check your available funds and try again.

3. Transaction flagged as suspicious by the bank

Some banks automatically block transactions related to trading or investment platforms as a security measure. Contact your bank and confirm that the payment to your Nomo account is authorised.

4. Daily transaction limit exceeded

Many banks set low default limits for online or international payments. You may need to increase the limit temporarily in your banking app or contact your bank directly.

5. Card issued in a restricted jurisdiction

Cards issued in certain countries cannot be used to fund a Nomo Trade account due to regulatory restrictions. If your card was issued in a restricted country, please use an alternative payment method or contact support to check your options.

6. International transactions not enabled

Some cards have international or cross-border payments disabled by default. If Nomo Trade processes your deposit through an international acquiring bank, your card may block the transaction. Enable international payments in your banking app or contact your bank to allow it.

7. Incorrect card details

Double-check that the card number, cardholder name, expiry date, and CVV were entered exactly as they appear on your card. A mismatch in any of these fields will cause the payment to fail.

What to try if the card keeps failing

  • Use a different card. A debit card from a different bank often works when a credit card from your primary bank doesn't.

  • Use a local payment method. PIX in Brazil, SPEI in Mexico, PSE in Colombia — these clear in minutes and don't go through international card networks.

  • Use cryptocurrency. USDT TRC-20 has very low fees and clears within a couple of minutes

Important notes

  • nomo does not charge for failed card attempts. Some banks may show a temporary hold on your statement — these typically clear within 1–7 days.

  • Three or more failed attempts in a short window may temporarily lock card deposits as a security measure. Try a different method or wait 24 hours.
